iClone: virtual worlds meets 3D animation, machinima

Came across this interesting animation software, courtesy of a social bookmark from one of my IBM virtual worlds colleagues, Michael Rowe. What iClone seems to offer is another example of the democratization of 3D, in this case making it relatively easier to create 3D movies. Not going to give Maya or Pixar a run for the money, but for $200, a pretty powerful looking tool.

MyVirtualSpace? Exit Realty's Demo of 3D Space for Social Network Pages

Spotted this on TechCrunch. Also, 3B has already tried to build virtual spaces from people's social media content such as images. But as the one comment on the video notes, hard to tell if this is ridiculous or brilliant. There are of course some technical issues with blending mixed and real, but broadly speaking its getting along quite nicely. We have a technical platform which does just that at the moment, and were testing it in Cologne last year. Sure we had some problems, but overall things are coming together.
